According to the AK Party, the "Privileged Partnership" option is an optionone that will bring economic, political and cultural damage to the EU and will put Turkey in the status of a second class country. The AK Party says that the EU needs Turkey to become a global actor and to successfully implement its defense and security policy. However, the AK Party accused the EU of playing bilaterally and of imposing new rules, while the negotiation process continues and makingmakes membership difficult. The AK Party, which sees Turkey's EU membership not as an end, but as a tool that the Turkish people deserve, said that if an option such as "Privileged Partnership" comes to the agenda and is insisted, the "Ankara Criteria" of the Copenhagen Criteria is required for full membership to the EU. He said that they will be redefined and continue their journey (AK Parti, 2012). For the AK Party, the process of full membership to the EU and fulfillment of the criteria has been a natural result of the modernization process. Implementing EU criteria is an important step for our modernization as a state and society. These conditions were inevitably considered necessary even when considered independently of the EU (AK Parti, 2002b). For this reason, the AK Party rejects the "Privileged Partnership" option put forward instead of full membership and stands in favor of maintaining its goal of full membership. Because, according to the AK Party, Turkey's EU membership will provide significiantsignificant advantages to Turkey. First, EU membership will contribute greatly to the establishment and development of democracy in Turkey, to gain economic gains, to the people of Turkey to live in better living conditions, freer, with more rights and guarantees (Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Avrupa Birliği Bakanlığı, 2014).
